362 hockey fans packed the den Friday night to watch the Bears play the Pembroke Lumber Kings in their final regular season game before the playoffs for a 4:1 win. While the game made no difference to the standings anymore, both teams nevertheless put on fast paced action, and Pembroke made the Bears work hard for the win.

Before the game started, the Bears honoured their stars in a small awards ceremony under much applause of the patrons. Shaymus Stevenson received his award for being the Top Forward, Julien Wasmer got named Top Defenceman, the Team Most Valued Player award went to goalie Dawson Labre, and Kyle Dagg received Fan Favorite. Pat Malloy got congratulated for having been named General Manager of the Year by the CCHL.

Quinn Booth lit up the scoreboard first with a goal early on in the first period at 1:23, assisted by Peter Rosa and Alec Hamady. Late in the period at 19:13, Owen Watson extended the bears’ lead with another score, assisted by Alec Hamedy again.

The second period remained scoreless.

Quinn Booth pushed the Bears further ahead with his second game score at 10:08 in the third period, assisted by Peyton Veltkamp and once more by Alec Hamedy. Pembroke finally found the back of the net half a minute later at 10:48 with a score by Charlie Blewett. A final goal into the empty net at the 19:08 mark by fan favorite Kyle Dagg, assisted by Owen Watson and Davis Hails, cemented the 4:1 win of the Bears for good.

Both teams played comparably equally strong, the Bears ever so slightly notched ahead with 25 shots on the net versus 23 for the Lumber Kings.

Quinn Booths earned First Star for two goals, Alec Hamedy took home Second Star for his three assists, and Third Star went to Charlie Blewett from the Lumber Kings.
