Downtown Carleton Place celebrates TEAMWORK with new downtown lighting scheme

Each year, Downtown Carleton Place, with the help of our friends at Christmas Décor & Lighting, install annual holiday and ambient lighting to create a festive and inviting atmosphere in our downtown. This year will be no different; however, we are dressing up our trees in gold and blue! Downtown Carleton Place is paying homage to the fierce teamwork we all have demonstrated through this very tough year and although the year is not over yet, we say: let there be light!

The colour choice ties into existing community groups. Gold and blue are colours found on many of our children’s hockey team’s jerseys, and they are also the colours of our beloved Carleton Place Canadians Jr. hockey team.

“By choosing gold and blue we are honoring our town’s love of hockey, our awesome kids and of course all the amazing TEAMWORK we have seen here in Carleton Place. We have such a resilient and supportive downtown community. They truly adore their customers and what they do. Each day they work as a team to support each other on social media and through cross-marketing,” explains Downtown Carleton Place BIA Coordinator Kate Murray.

The new lighting will be turned on November 12 and remain up for 2021. For the holiday season, the downtown lamp standards will be wrapped with green, gold-lit garland with red bows.

“Our downtown businesses have worked tirelessly at ensuring their customers and staff remained safe and happy amongst a massive amount of uncertainly that the pandemic has given, and they continue to do so,” says BIA Board Chair Mark Lovell. “These businesses have remained a light in our community, and this decorative gesture is a way of recognizing their dedication to our community.”

We invite our citizens and community to come and enjoy the sights of the upcoming holiday season and we respectfully ask you to please support your local downtown businesses as much as possible this year.
