The Township of Rideau Lakes is pleased to announce the launch of its new Facebook and Instagram pages on Meta (formerly known as Facebook). As part of the Digital Content Strategy adopted by Council on December 6, 2021, the municipality has introduced “Experience Rideau Lakes” pages to offer free, accessible, and meaningful content to people through social media channels.

With growing interest on the Township’s website, community Facebook page and YouTube channel, it was recommended that the municipality introduce additional platforms, specifically to engage people in experiencing what Rideau Lakes has to offer.

“The community is invited to follow Experience Rideau Lakes on Facebook and Instagram for information and ideas about things to see and do in Rideau Lakes throughout the year”, says Marie White, Economic Development and Cultural Heritage Coordinator with the Township of Rideau Lakes. January’s post, “Sharpen your Blades, Ontario’s Best Outdoor Skating” offers details about three places to skate outdoors. “This is something Rideau Lakes is known for,” continues Marie White, “thanks to the international Skate the Lake events held in Portland on Big Rideau Lake.”

The active community Facebook page, Rideau Lakes Twp, with over 6,000 followers will continue its outreach to residents to share information about local activities, recreation programs, events and notices. The new page, Experience Rideau Lakes, will focus on lifestyle and share content that highlights local experiences, local businesses, culture and heritage.

Mayor Arie Hoogenboom states, “The Experience Rideau Lakes pages allow us as a Municipality to put our best foot forward online for those that want to connect with us – Rideau Lakes is welcoming a significant number of new residents and has always been a top-tier tourism destination, and we need to help them connect with the community and local business.”

T.D. Graham and Associates created the Digital Content Strategy for the Township of Rideau Lakes. Adopted by Council in December, new content is planned for development over a three-year period starting from January 2022 until 2025.
