Firearm recovered and one male held in custody

On March 7th 2025, the Smiths Falls Police Service received information of a male suspect on Lanark Street walking with a firearm. Members of the Smiths Falls Police responded immediately to the area and confirmed the suspect was now inside a residence on Mccann Street. SFPS with the assistance of OPP Lanark County members kept containment of the immediate area. The SFPS Incident Commander and Crisis Negotiator were utilized at the scene. The suspect agreed to surrender to police without further incident.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at the Mccann Street residence with the assistance from the OPP K-9 unit. As a result of the search the firearm was located and seized by police.

As a result of the investigation, 23 year old Jessie CHOU I NOR was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose (x 1)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x 1)
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon (x 1)
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo (x 1)
  • Careless use of firearm or ammo (x 2)
  • Failure to comply with release order (x 3)
  • Failure to comply with probation order (x 3)
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (x 6)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
