Another game in the bag for the Bears

Seemingly unstoppable, the Bears added yet another win to their portfolio. The team extended their winning streak once more, coming out atop with a 4:3 result against the Rockland Nationals in Sunday’s afternoon home game at the Den. Both teams put out a good solid game of hockey, with the Bears having the slight upper hand in shots at the net at 42 versus 36 for the Nationals. Noteworthy is also the unusually low number in penalties, only two in total for the entire game.

Brent Broaders pushed the Bears to the lead at 14:33 in the first period, assisted by Justin Trudel and Ryan Richardson.

Tate Leeson further extended the lead with a score at 12:11 in the second period, with the assists credited to Noah Adams and Theo Todd. But Rockland struck back with force just moments later with a score by Matthew Vermaeten ‘C’ at 12:28, followed by a goal at 13:49 by Gunnar Smith to tie the game, setting off an apparent back’n forth tug-of-war in scoring. Justin Trudel, assisted by Bruce Coltart and Brent Broaders slung the puck into the net for the Bears at 14:40, just to see the game tied once more at 15:02 with a score by Rockland’s Cameron Scrivens ‘A’. Alexander Caulfield finally cemented the Bears lead with the last goal of the game at 16:45, assisted by Andrew McKenney and Cade Helmer.

The third period saw no scoring, although the Bears had a few chances at the empty net at the very end.

Brent Broaders was awarded First Star, Justin Trudel received Second Star, and Cameron Scrivens ‘A’ (ROC) went home with Third Star.
