Celebrate Earth Day at The Great Perth Pick-Up!

SUBMITTED

The Town of Perth and the Climate Change Advisory Panel invite members of the community to roll up their sleeves for The Great Perth Pick-Up, a townwide clean-up event taking place on Earth Day – Tuesday, April 22, 2025 – from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Crystal Palace (31 Basin Lane).

This community-focused initiative encourages residents to take part in a day of environmental action by helping to remove litter from streets, parks, and public spaces. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided to all participants. Those who take part will also have a chance to win prizes as a thank-you for their efforts.

“We’re excited to see the community come together for this important initiative,” says Cathy McNally, Director of Community Services. “Earth Day is the perfect day to build pride in our town and get individuals, families, and students involved in caring for the spaces we all share.”

The local school community is also stepping up for The Great Perth Pick-Up. Staff and students from six schools – Queen Elizabeth School, Perth Children’s House, Perth & District Collegiate Institute, St. John Catholic Elementary School, St. John Catholic High School, and The Stewart School – have committed to participating. Throughout the day, they’ll be heading out to clean up schoolyards, neighbourhoods, and community spaces as part of the Earth Day effort.

“We’ve been floored by the school community response and excitement to pitch in on Earth Day,” says CCAP Chair Brodie Berrigan. “Their participation just shows how caring and amazing our youth really are here in Perth.”
