Harassment investigation, wanted suspect and traffic stop lead to arrests

Harassment investigation lead to arrest

On January 31 2025, Smiths Falls Police Service commenced an investigation into a report of concerning behaviour in an intimate partner relationship.

On February 1 2025, the involved suspect surrendered themselves to police. As a result of the investigation, a 40 year old male stands charged with criminal harassment (x 1) and harassing communications (x 1).

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Wanted subject located

On February 1 2025, members of the Smiths Falls Police located a wanted subject while on patrol of the downtown area. The subject was arrested without incident.

30 year old, William CALGEY was wanted on charges relating to failing to comply with their probation order (x 2). The accused was later released from custody with conditions.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.

Traffic stop results in arrest

On February 01 2025, Smiths Falls Police Service conducted a traffic stop after the cruiser’s ALPR (automatic licence plate recognition) device received a hit for an expired vehicle permit. Upon further investigation it was learned that the vehicle driver was also in breach of their bail release conditions.

As a result of the investigation a 36 year old male form Ottawa was arrested at the scene. The accused stands charged with failure to comply with their release order (x 2) as well as multiple provincial driving offences.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
