The event included a high tea service as well.

The medal, introduced to mark the coronation of King Charles III on May 6, 2023, honours those who have made outstanding contributions to their communities.

The award, designed to commemorate this historic event, is presented to individuals who have shown exceptional leadership, service, and dedication. The recipients come from various sectors, from community service to local governance, and have all played pivotal roles in shaping their communities.

Four Coronation medals were awarded through the Ontario Provincial Parliament, presented by MPP John Jordan on behalf of Rideau Hall.

These recipients included: Dr. Peter Bell, Kory Earle, Travis Mellema, and Jeff Mills.

This year’s recipients, chosen from a pool of local nominees, are recognized not only for their hard work but also for their commitment to fostering a spirit of cooperation and volunteerism across the region. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to others and exemplify the values of community, compassion, and citizenship that are central to Canadian life.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal is part of a longstanding tradition of commemorative awards, honoring extraordinary Canadians who contribute to the social fabric of the country.
