The Town of Smiths Falls is pleased to announce the popular Merry + Bright holiday shopping program will be returning again for 2021. This shop local program was a hit in 2020 and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever, with 25 per cent more unique holiday boxes to choose from.

“We are very pleased to be able to support this promotion again in 2021,” said Julia Crowder, Manager of Economic Development & Tourism. “Merry + Bright will bring much needed revenue to our businesses as they continue to recover from the impacts of the pandemic. The community’s support is invaluable for local businesses this year more than ever.”

The purpose of the Merry + Bright program is to provide easy and creative holiday gifts for consumers while also supporting local businesses as they recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, shoppers will be able to choose from 21 unique Smiths Falls holiday boxes. Boxes will be available for purchase at participating local businesses beginning Nov. 1. Each box will contain products from each specific business along with the famous Smiths Falls’ facades mug, holiday post card and community information.

Introduced in 2020, Merry + Bright was one of the business support programs coordinated by the Town of Smiths Falls. Also in 2020, two other programs, PICNIC Smiths Falls and the Local Subscription Box (coordinated by the Smiths Falls & District Chamber of Commerce) received recognition from the Economic Developer’s Council of Ontario in 2020. These Smiths Falls’ business support initiatives have driven more than $120,000 in direct revenue to Smiths Falls’ businesses and entrepreneurs.
