Holiday initiative aims to reduce impaired driving and enhance public safety

SUBMITTED

Officers across the East Region (OPP) will have an increased visibility while participating in the 2024-25 Festive Ride Campaign. Starting November 21, 2024, and continuing until January 01, 2025, members in all detachments will focus on conducting R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checks during the upcoming Holiday Season.

Impaired driving is a leading cause of collisions on our highways, and a threat to public safety in our communities. There are many options to avoid driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs: take a taxi, call a friend, stay over, or have a designated sober driver.

Report impaired drivers by calling 1-888-310-1122 for the Provincial Communication Center (OPP) or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
