The Remembrance Day Posters, Poems and Essays Contest was held again this year by the Perth-Upon-Tay Royal Canadian Legion Branch 244.  This contest is designed for local area school students and gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their artistic and literary skills while addressing the significance and importance of Remembrance Day in Canada.

The Covid 19 Pandemic has caused disruptions and difficulties in all of our day to day routines in 2020.  We truly wish to thank the principals, staff and students of our local schools for their efforts in submitting student contest entries into our Legion Branch 244 considering their daily challenges as a result of the Pandemic. This year’s participating schools were: Perth and District Collegiate Institute, St. John’s Catholic High School, Glen Tay Public School, The Stewart School, St. John’s Elementary School and Queen Elizabeth Public School.

This year’s entries were excellent and as in past years judging was most difficult. However we did finally choose winning entries which will be sent to Zone competition for further judging and hopefully will do well at that level.

The following students earned a monetary gift as well as a certificate of accomplishment for excellence in their artistic and literary skills.
