After the total loss of the Fire Station in Portland in December of 2021, the  Township determined that Lombardy would be the new location for Fire Station #2. An RFP for the construction of the new station was issued in September of 2023, and the project was awarded to R.K. Porter General Contracting Inc. The station design includes 4 truck bays with a total area of 2500 square feet, a 462 square  foot training room with kitchen area, 1 office, a diesel generator for emergency back-up, and a fully paved parking lot with access to rear of building.

Fire Chief, Gene Richardson remarked, “We are excited to celebrate the completion  of our new hall, our firefighters’ home away from home. The new hall represents resilience and the unwavering commitment to serve and protect our community.”

Mayor Hoogenboom remarked, “This station and its relocation will provide more  evenly distributed fire protection for our citizens in the South Elmsley ward and will  assist in our recruitment of volunteers.”

The public is invited to view the new station, enjoy treats and refreshments and  celebrate the completion of this project, on Thursday, October 31 from 3:00 p.m. to  5:30 p.m. at 5 Otter Lake Road, Lombardy.
