Rideau Lakes celebrates corporate donation of new Floating Dock System

SUBMITTED

The Township of Rideau Lakes is pleased to celebrate the generous donation of a new ramp and floating dock for paddlers to access Big Rideau Lake. A Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held in honour of the local business that made the donation, C & M Superior Systems Inc. Docks & Boat Lifts, and to showcase the new ramp and floating dock on Friday, July 19th at 1:00 p.m. in Portland’s beautiful  Hanna Park.

In development of the Township’s Economic Development Strategy, it was identified that water-based tourism is a key economic driver, and that there is a need to offer more ways for people to experience the Rideau System in order to build on the tourism economy. Local businesses that help residents and visitors enjoy our 37 lakes and the cottage lifestyle are a tremendous asset to Rideau Lakes in developing water-based experiences.

Thanks to C & M Superior Systems, a new level of convenience will soon be available to paddlers using kayaks, as the new ramp and floating dock provides good stability and a low profile. The system will be installed at Hanna Park in Portland on the morning of Friday, July 19th prior to the ribbon cutting event.

This generous local business is a family-run operation based on Hwy 15 in Portland. Founder Michel Lanteigne has been building dock solutions to help people enjoy their waterfront properties for decades, and together with his wife Carol and son Mike, has grown the business to where it is today. Their contribution of the new floating dock system at Hanna Park will enhance both recreation and tourism for the community.

Mayor Arie Hoogenboom remarked, “On behalf of the Township, we are so grateful for this generous donation from C & M Superior Systems. We can boast that Rideau Lakes is home to over 868 kilometres of shoreline, and this dock provides a new way to access our waterways, which is a key element to the lifestyle that is so important to our business community, residents and visitors.” The public is invited to enjoy refreshing lemonade and sweets to celebrate the donation and appreciate this new waterfront feature at the Grand Opening Celebration being held at Hanna Park in Portland on Friday, July 19th at 1:00 p.m.
