After careful consideration, and in consultation with the Emergency Management Control Group, Mayor Hoogenboom has declared a municipal State of Emergency with the Township of Rideau Lakes in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

Declaring an emergency affords the Township additional powers to protect the health and safety of all individuals, families, businesses, and the vulnerable populations we serve.

“I have declared a state of emergency in Rideau Lakes to underscore the gravity of the situation we face,” said Mayor Hoogenboom. “The declaration ensures the Township can continue to quickly and effectively respond to this evolving situation. I call on our community to pull together at this most difficult time. Support each other and our most vulnerable members, while continuing to practice social distancing.”

With today’s decision to declare a State of Emergency, the Township continues to take a proactive approach in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Residents are not required to take any action in response to the declaration of a State of Emergency. Residents are encouraged to do the following:

  • Practice social distancing to help control the spread of the virus;
  • Follow recommended measures from Health Officials to help control the spread of the virus
  • Stay updated on current information through our Facebook page and Website.

Council will be meeting electronically during this period to shape and inform the policy response of the Township.

At this time, there continues to be no identified cases reported within the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. If you are experiencing any symptoms, please make use of the Ontario Self-Assessment Tool, contact your primary care provider or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 if you’re experiencing symptoms of the 2019 novel coronavirus.

The Township of Rideau Lakes Municipal Emergency Control Group will continue to meet on a regular basis during this time to focus on operational matters and rapid response. The Township will continue to monitor the ongoing situation and update the public accordingly. Although our Municipal office is closed to the Public, all essential operations and services continue to be operational.
