The County’s public works staff outlined the upcoming roads’ works for this season. The County has budgeted over $11M for capital projects which will include County Road 18 (Port Elmsley Road), involving complete drainage work and paving (including shoulders) for 1.9 km from County Road 43 (Highway 43) to Beveridge Locks Road. Work has begun and is scheduled to be completed by June 3.

County Road 14 (Narrows Lock Road) will get a double surface treatment overlay with hardened shoulders on County Road 14, from the Scotch Line to Long Lake Road, for a total distance of 5.25 km, and on County Road 21, from Narrows Lock Road easterly for

1.8 kilometres. Work also includes culvert replacements and a curve realignment at the intersection of Narrows Lock and Powers roads. Work has started and is scheduled to be completed by June 10th.

County Road 10 (Scotch Line) will be repaved with drainage work for 3 km from the county boundary with Leeds & Grenville, easterly. Work is slated to be completed by June 17.

County Road 43 (Hwy. 43) will receive a second lift of asphalt on Hwy. 43 with fully paved shoulders from Perth to Port Elmsley. Work is scheduled to begin on June 6, starting with shoulder preparation. County Road 6 (Christie Lake Road) will see 4.1 km of it between Glen Tay and Dewitts Corners get new pavement and drainage. Work is scheduled from June 27 to Sept. 2nd.

County Road 20 (Waba Road) will be rehabilitated between Concessions 9 and 7. Work is scheduled from July 11 to Aug. 26. County Road 9 (Tatlock Road) will also get new paving and drainage along with new curbs between the 2nd concession and Bay Road beginning on Aug 15 running until Sept 23. County Road 17 (Blakeney Road) is getting new pavement and hardened shoulders between Panmure Road and Needham Side Road. Work is scheduled from Aug. 15 to Sept. 30th.

Work on the Rideau Ferry Bridge has already started and involves the replacement of the concrete curbs and steel railings, as well as installation of a new concrete wearing surface. To facilitate the bridge improvement work, traffic will be reduced to one 3.6-metre lane, using temporary traffic signals and temporary concrete barriers to protect the workers. Work is scheduled to be completed in December.

Culvert replacements and microsurfacing to preserve pavement will take place on a series of County roads with an expected completion date of Sept 2nd. Staff wishes to remind drivers to be aware and pay attention to construction signs and workers and to be prepared for lane reductions and slower traffic.
