The Smiths Falls Bears earned a dominant 6-1 victory over the Renfrew Wolves Saturday in Central Canada Hockey League action, solidifying their fourth-place standing with just four games remaining in the regular season.

Smiths Falls’ Chris Cardillo opened the scoring in the first period, assisted by Peyton Veltkamp.

The Bears led 1-0 until the 13:08 mark of the second period, when Kyle Dagg doubled their lead with a power-play goal, assisted by Caeden Heins.

Renfrew responded before the period’s end, with Evan Greco netting the Wolves’ only goal of the game. Greco’s goal was assisted by Jackson Arango and Nik Pawlowski.

The third period saw Smiths Falls take control, scoring four unanswered goals. Quinn Booth struck twice, both goals assisted by Tyson Parker and Travis Ouellette. Ouellette added a goal of his own, assisted by Booth and Parker. Heins rounded out the scoring with a power-play goal, set up by Jackson Heron and Brayden Childerhose, for a 6-1 final.

Booth, Parker, and Greco were named the game’s stars.

Smiths Falls outshot Renfrew 45-14, with Bennett Braxton earning the win in goal. The game drew 230 spectators.

Next, Smiths Falls will play two back-to-back games in Pembroke on Monday and Wednesday at 7 p.m., followed by a 7:30 p.m. start in Brockville on Friday. The Bears’ final regular-season game will be at home Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
