Forget Netflix — there’s a double feature in Smiths Falls on Sunday that’s all hits, no scripts, and probably a few penalties.

The Jr. A Bears and the Senior Rideaus both take to home ice in back-to-back playoff games that promise speed, grit and no shortage of drama.

The action begins at 3 p.m., as the Smiths Falls Jr. A Bears host the Rockland Nationals in Game 2 of their Bogart Cup semi-final series in the Central Canada Hockey League.

The Nationals dominated Game 1 on Friday night in Rockland, blanking the Bears 6–0 in front of 1,227 fans. Goalie Benoit Forget turned aside all 24 shots he faced to earn the shutout.

Ethan Morrow took the loss for Smiths Falls, making 21 saves on 26 shots before being replaced by Braxton Bennett in the third period. Bennett allowed one power-play goal for the final tally.

Rockland opened the scoring in the first, then exploded with four in the second. Goals came from Gabriel Le Houillier, Spencer Bowes, Anthony Hall, Nolan Turnbull, Mathis Baril and Raphael Tellier. Baril also had an assist. All three game stars were from Rockland: Baril, Tellier, and Forget.

CARLETON PLACE VS NAVAN

In the Carleton Place Canadians and Navan Grads semi-final showdown, the Grads tied the series at one game apiece after a 3-2 win in the second overtime period.

Navan scored first with Sebbie Johnson’s first of two at the 1:37 mark.

In the second, Carleton Place went ahead with goals from Ryan Small, unassisted, and Jackson Froysland, assisted by Sam Allaby and William Bower.

Johnson tied the rally in the third with Johnson’s second – unassisted, to force the overtime period.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Cole Jenken scored the winner with 30 seconds on the clock for the 3-2 win for Navan to even the series.

Carleton Place earned a 3-0 win in Game 1 with goals from William Bouwer, Sam Allaby and Masen Culley in front of just 147 fans.

Game 3 in this series is in Carleton Place on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.

EOSHL Finals

Stick around after the Bears game for more hard-hitting action as the Senior Rideaus take on the North Dundas Rockets in Game 3 of the Eastern Ontario Senior Hockey League final.

The best-of-five series is tied 1–1. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
