How much did Smiths Falls council members earn in 2024?

The Town of Smiths Falls has received the 2024 Statement of Remuneration and Expenses Report, outlining the compensation and expenses for all council and committee/board members. The report was presented as information at the March 17 Committee of the Whole meeting by Paul Dowber, Director of Corporate Services/Treasurer.

As required under Section 284(1) of the Municipal Act, the report details itemized remuneration and expenses paid to council members for their services, including travel and registration costs for conferences and training workshops. All payments were made in compliance with the town’s bylaws and allocated within the 2024 budget.

Key figures show council members’ remuneration ranging from $19,000 to $39,092.64, along with various expenses incurred on behalf of the municipality. The report also includes payments made by external bodies such as the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.
