Spring maintenance bridge closures

Rideau Canal National Historic site

SUBMITTED

In the coming weeks, Parks Canada will conduct routine spring maintenance at some of our bridge sites along the Rideau Canal National Historic Site in preparation for the 2024 navigation season.

This includes preventative maintenance tasks like washing, greasing, and conducting visual inspections to ensure their safe operability.

Old Sly’s Swing Bridge:
(Smiths Falls)
Thursday, May 7, 2024, from 9am to 3pm. Friday, May 8, 2024, from 9am to 3pm
Abbott Street Swing Bridge:
(Smiths Falls)
Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 9am through Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 3:00pm

The bridges will be closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and motorists are asked to plan their routes accordingly to avoid delays.

Parks Canada wishes to thank the public for their patience and understanding.
