UPDATE: OPP SEARCHING FOR SUSPECT

Charges Laid

(PARHAM, ON) – The Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has now laid charges in connection with an incident in Parham, Ontario.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on June 7, 2020, OPP officers responded to reports of gunshots in the Village of Parham. One person was treated by Frontenac County Paramedics for a minor injury. A fire, which started in a residence, spread to an adjacent church, destroying both buildings.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on June 8, 2020, OPP officers arrested the accused at a residence in the Hartington area, south of Parham. The arrest was made without incident.

Brian Daniel MOSHER, age 42 of Central Frontenac Township, Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Attempt to commit murder using firearm – sec. 239(1)(a.1) – two counts
  • Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner – sec. 244.2(1)(a)
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – sec. 264.1(1)(a) – two counts
  • Arson – damage to property – sec. 434 – two counts
  • Using a firearm while committing offence – sec. 85(1)(a)
  • Careless use of a firearm – sec. 86(1)
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose – sec. 88
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – sec. 91(1)

The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing by video before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on June 8, 2020.
