Youth Week returns to Beckwith Township, May 1–7

Week-long lineup features games, crafts, skating, safety courses and more

Beckwith Township is gearing up for Youth Week with a full slate of free and low-cost events aimed at engaging local youth from May 1 to 7.

Reeve Richard Kidd said the week is about building community pride and positive memories for young people.

“Youth are a very important part of our community,” Kidd said. “These activities encourage participation, belonging, and responsibility among youth — and a chance to just have fun.”

Here’s what’s on tap:

  • Thursday, May 1: Board Game Night, 6:30–8 p.m. at Ashton United Church Hall, 1702 9th Line. Free snacks and games.
  • Friday, May 2: Line Dancing with the Lanark County 4H Line Dancing Club, 6:30–8 p.m. at the Community Hall. Free admission.
  • Saturday, May 3: Babysitting Course for youth 12+, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Community Hall. $50, registration required. Youth Free Skate, 1–2:30 p.m. at Beckwith Recreation Complex, sponsored by Love4Reesie.
  • Sunday, May 4: Home Alone Course for youth 10+, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. at Brunton Community Hall, 2022 Beckwith Park Lane. $30, registration required.
  • Monday, May 5: Open Turf Night, 5–6 p.m. at Beckwith Recreation Complex. Drop-in soccer, football and more.
  • Tuesday, May 6: Crafts, Seeds & Hops, 6:30–8 p.m. at the Community Hall with the Lanark County 4H Club. Includes a rabbit agility demo.
  • Wednesday, May 7: Beckwith Fire Department Tour, 6–7:30 p.m. at 1654 9th Line.
