1,108 pounds of donated food!

In addition to working tirelessly over many months of pandemic response, the Lanark County Paramedic Service (LCPS) team made time to support our communities by hosting the annual “Fill and Ambulance with Food” drive on December 11^th and 12^th.  With support from local YIG stores (Barnabe, Mitchell, Patrice and Andress), Paramedics were on location in Perth, Carleton Place, Almonte, and Smiths Falls.

This year, 96 boxes of food were collected, weighing an impressive 1,108 pounds. An additional $3,086 in cash donations was received, all of which was presented to the “Build a Mountain of Food” organization on December 15^th.

“Thank you to our paramedics for their continued commitment to our community and to organizer Jason Tunks for his leadership once again this year,” noted LCPS Chief Travis Mellema. “We would also like to extend our thanks to the citizens of Lanark County who donated food and money to ensure that families have food for the upcoming Christmas holidays.”

Special thanks as well to paramedics Lisa Popplewell, Angela Wallace, Brian McDonald, Lindsay Davidson, David Mullin, Samantha Wright, and Nick Rousselle. Additional thanks to the U15 Mississippi Thunder Kings for their help. And finally, grateful thanks to our other supporters: organizer Chris Craig, RCL Automotive, and Rideau Home Hardware Building Centre for the use of their 5-tonne truck.
