Mayor distributes Heritage Perth Architectural Conservation 2021 awards

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing, the Heritage Perth Architectural Conservation 2021 awards were presented a little differently this year. During Tuesday night’s council meeting in Perth, council members enjoyed watching a video in which Mayor John Fenik presented some of Perth’s citizens with Heritage Perth Architectural Conservation 2021 awards last week.

These awards recognize excellence in heritage conservation within the town of Perth. 

The first award was presented to Shannon & Toby Shannan, owners of 30 Drummond St East, for restoring their beautiful home in exquisite heritage style. This is “an amazing example of heritage restoration done right,” enthused Mayor Fenik. 

Heritage Carpenter Sean Keyes received the award for restoration carpentry for the work he’s done at 30 Drummond St East.  “This is the point where carpentry transforms into art,” declared the Mayor, highlighting Keyes’ work at the front entrance of the home.

Paul Mouré accepted the Heritage Perth Architectural award on behalf of Traditional Trades Masonry, for stonework done on 30 Drummond St E as well. Traditional Trades replaced mortar and refitted bricks and stones.

And just across the street, Ted & Maria Ferrant of 33 Drummond St East received the Heritage Award in the Building category. For the past several years they have been restoring the large stone wall on the perimeter of their property, an “excellent restoration of iconic stone wall.”

Penelope and Richard Jackson also received a Heritage Perth Architectural Conservation 2021 award.  Their new home was entirely built in the Heritage style, blending in flawlessly with Perth’s iconic original stone homes. Mayor Fenik said that this was “built from the heart.” Richard Jackson humbly passed all the praise to his son who designed the home and to McAdoo construction for their work in construction.
