At the committee of the whole meeting for Perth town council, held on Tuesday Dec 7th, councilors received a request from their planning advisory committee for the director of development services to explore the feasibility of providing identified municipal property in partnership with private sector partners such as local construction companies, Algonquin College, and Habitat for Humanity for construction of affordable housing. The director would be asked to provide this report and their recommendation to the planning advisory committee for the March 2022 meeting.

Despite a short debate on the definition on affordable housing, the committee strongly approved sending this request to the next full council meeting for action.
