Cyclist Dies After Being Struck By Transport

One person has died following a collision involving a bicycle and transport truck, west of Carleton Place.

On October 4, 2020, shortly before 10:00 p.m., officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a collision on Highway-7, between Ramsay Concession 5A and Townline Road West.

The investigation found that a cyclist, towing a trailer, had been riding westbound on Highway-7 and was struck by a transport, also traveling westbound.

The cyclist was transported to hospital by Lanark County Paramedics, but later died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The deceased has been identified as Keith LAING, age 28 of Elizabethtown-Kitley Township.

The investigation by Lanark County OPP continues, with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and OPP Traffic Collision Investigation Team members.

The section of Highway-7 was re-opened this morning.
