While there continues to be no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our region, we believe it is both prudent and responsible to play an active role in limiting the possible spread of the virus.

In alignment with the decision to close Ontario public schools (including day care facilities within schools) and with guidance from the Health Unit, effective Tuesday, March 17, the following municipally owned facilities will be closed to the public until further notice:

  • Town Hall
  • The Heritage House Museum
  • The Memorial Community Centre
  • The Public Works Office on Air Care Drive
  • The Water Treatment Plant
  • The Wastewater Treatment Plant
  • The Library
  • The Senior’s Centre

All departments remain functional and will continue to interact with the public by phone and/or email. This afternoon’s Committee of the Whole and Council meetings will proceed as planned.

Any private functions or events that are scheduled to be held at the above-mentioned facilities will also be cancelled.

In addition, effective Wednesday, March 18, The Child Development Centre at Thurber Street will be closed, until further notice.

Town of Smiths Falls staff and Council members remain available and can be reached by email or telephone.

Billing or payments to the Town, including your water bill, taxes, or parking tickets, can be made using the drop box in front of Town Hall, or done online or at your local bank.

For additional information on COVID-19, please contact the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit at 1-800-660-5853 or visit their website at healthunit.org/coronavirus.
