Deputy Clerk Nadine Bennett brought a report from the Emergency Control Group to the Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday night in Smiths Falls. The Emergency Control Group last met June 30.

There are currently two active cases of Covid-19 in our health unit; one patient is in hospital. Kim McCann, Senior Public Health Inspector with the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Health Unit stated that our community’s vaccination rates have been tremendous, and the vaccination process at the Arena is seamless.

Looking forward as Ontario moves into Step Three of the reopening process on July 16, town staff are moving forward. The staff returned to town hall on July 5, and are preparing to open to the public on July 19.

Councillor Alford inquired as to the post-pandemic debriefing process.  CAO Morris said staff is planning to do a summary of what worked and what didn’t work, once the state of emergency is lifted. Bennet added that this will include councillors’ input.
