Perth town council started off the New Year with a heavy agenda for their committee of the whole. Up first was an official public meeting regarding a street name change. North Street North is a small stretch of Drummond Concession 2 within Perth’s boundaries with one side being in Drummond North Elmsley and the other in Perth. The issue came to the committee from a resident of the street who couldn’t get a passport registered to their address. According to them, the passport office stated that a compass direction couldn’t be used as a street name. When the issue was investigated, other residents came forward with their problems in getting deliveries due to non-sequential property numbering. Two residents appeared at the virtual meeting, one to indicate they had no problems and didn’t want to face the task of changing their address on paper with a variety of agencies and government offices. The other indicated they had been experiencing delivery problems and wanted a resolution. The matter will now move to the next committee of the whole meeting in February for more discussion.
