Missing person located deceased

The search for a missing person, south of Smiths Falls, has ended.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Underwater Search and Recovery Team located the body of Timothy EDWARDS, age 38 of South Elmsley Township at approximately 10:45 a.m. today, May 4, 2020.

On May 2, 2020, shortly after 8:15 p.m. members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report that a canoe had capsized on Otter Creek in the area of Jasper Road and McCaw Road. One person made it to shore, went to a home and called 911, while the other was reported as missing. 

The search involved OPP members from the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Marine Unit, Aviation Services and Leeds Detachment, with assistance from the Rideau Lakes Fire Department.
