Rideau Lakes resident Pat Phillips was presented with the Ontario Senior of the Year Award, a program that allows each municipality in Ontario to recognize an outstanding senior who, after age 65, enriches the social, cultural or civic life of the community.
This provincial award, overseen by the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, was awarded to Pat Phillips in recognition of her volunteer service, according to the Township of Rideau Lakes.
June is recognized as Seniors Month in Ontario, and many seniors generously contribute their knowledge, care and time to build their communities. This year, through a nomination made by Rideau Lakes council, Pat Phillips received the award.
During the presentation, Mayor Arie Hoogenboom thanked Phillips for her years of volunteer efforts in the community. Mayor Hoogenboom presented Phillips with a certificate at the Delta Coffee Drop-in on Monday, July 27, 2026, to acknowledge her contribution to the local community.
