Police appeal for information and public awareness

On June 6, 2021, the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted by the owner of Saunders Country Critters Zoo and Sanctuary, located on County Road 44, in the Municipality of North Grenville.

The owner reported a mischief after one animal was found outside of its pen on the morning of June 5. A more thorough search on June 6 found that a bobcat was missing entirely.

At this time, it is believed the animals were intentionally let out of their pens.

“Brett Cody” (BC), a four-year-old adult male bobcat, is described as:

  • Approximately 20 pounds
  • Appearance of a very large house cat
  • Grey-blond fur with black spots

The OPP is asking that anyone with information, or if BC is located, to notify Grenville County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If located, you can also contact Saunders Zoo directly at 613-794-6124 or saunderscountry@gmail.com.

To report information anonymously, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-(TIPS) 8477 or submit your tip online at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca. Crime Stoppers does not want your name, you don’t go to court, and you could earn a cash reward.
