Police allege the Perth-area driver fled officers after performing burnouts at an Ottawa intersection
A Perth-area man is facing multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police say a driver fled from officers following an alleged impaired-driving incident in Ottawa on Friday evening.
According to the OPP, shortly before 6 p.m. on May 16, an officer was at a gas station on Terry Fox Drive when they observed a vehicle performing burnouts in an intersection.
Police allege the driver attempted to flee the area but was later located at another gas station on Eagleson Road. Officers also alleged the driver had been consuming alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Baily Campbell, 27, of the Perth area, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired — alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg
- Dangerous operation
- Flight from a peace officer
- Performing a stunt
- Driving with an open container of liquor
Police say the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Campbell is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
