PERTH – On Sunday, October 26 at 2 p.m., residents are invited to a Perth community gathering at Darou Farm to honour Reese Stanzel, a 15-year-old Perth youth whose life was tragically taken in October 2024. Hosted by Perth & District Community Partners, this commemorative event offers space for reflection, healing, and solidarity.

The Perth community gathering will include remarks from community leaders, a poetry reading, live music, and the dedication of a memorial bench in Reese’s honour by Mayor Judy Brown. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in a moment of collective hope through a simple reflective activity; writing down their wishes for the future of the community before participating in a symbolic ringing of the bells.

“This gathering is about more than remembrance—it’s a show of support for the Stanzel family and a testament to the strength and compassion of our town,” said Cathy McNally, the Town of Perth’s Director of Community Services. “Together, we reflect on the past and look ahead with hope.”

Counsellors will be onsite to support those in need during the event. All are welcome to attend. For full program details, visit Engage.Perth.ca/Community-Support.
