Deputy Mayor Ed McPherson has filed his nomination papers, joining three other candidates seeking the mayor’s chair in the Oct. 26 municipal election:
- David Bird
- Stephanie Drummond
- Ed McPherson
- Isabel Anne McRae
Bird and McRae are current councillors, while Drummond ran for mayor in 2022. McPherson was acclaimed as deputy mayor in that election.
Mayor Judy Brown is not seeking another term as mayor. Instead, she has filed for one of five councillor positions.
Jim Boldt, currently a councillor, is the only candidate to have filed for deputy mayor.
Six people are seeking the five councillor seats:
- Judy Brown
- Marlene Donoghue
- Sheldon Giff
- Paul Quinnell
- Gary Waterfield
- Derek Zeisman
With nominations closing at 2 p.m. Aug. 21, Perth voters are already guaranteed races for mayor and council. The deputy mayor’s position remains uncontested, at least for now.
