With the Perth Night Market just around the corner, downtown Perth is preparing to come alive with shopping, dining, live music, street performances and family-friendly entertainment on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 5 to 10 p.m.
More than 130 artisans, makers, food vendors and local businesses will take part in this year’s event. Entertainment will also be offered throughout the downtown during the evening.
The lineup includes Bollywood dance performances by Kuljit Sodhi, the Rideau Cloggers and live music by the Ompah Dom Band and Mike Creech. King of the Swingers and Bry the Magic Guy will offer roaming performances.
Families can visit the Stealing the Bloom petting zoo in Code Park, learn about the grey ratsnake during demonstrations at the bandshell or have their portraits drawn by caricature artist Doc Z.
Later in the evening, Rockabilly Joe will bring his circus act to the streets while musicians continue performing throughout downtown.
“There’s so much happening throughout downtown that you really can’t experience the Perth Night Market from just one spot,” said Kathryn Jamieson, manager of tourism and culture. “We encourage people to wander, explore the vendors and local businesses, catch a performance, grab something to eat, and see what they discover along the way.”
A free shuttle will operate from 2:30 to 10:30 p.m., stopping at designated parking areas around town. Downtown road closures will also be in place to create a safe, pedestrian-friendly event.
