Delay to Perth Stingrays pool fees expected to reduce municipal revenue by about $6,000
PERTH — Perth Stingrays Aquatic Club will receive a temporary break on rising pool rental fees after the committee of the whole agreed to delay the increase until the fall.
Committee recommended, during its regular meeting on March 10, deferring the 2026 fee increase for the club until Sept. 1, 2026.
The Stingrays had asked the town to postpone the increase so it aligns with the start of their competitive swim season and annual registration cycle. The club sets its fees in June for programs that begin in September, meaning a mid-year increase would create an unexpected financial strain.
Under the town’s 2026 fees and charges schedule, pool rental rates are rising across all user groups. For the Stingrays, the change represents an increase of $17.28 per hour at the Perth and District Indoor Pool.
“We have a great collaborative relationship with Stingrays and staff is recommending that council support postponing the implementation of the increased rates until Sept. 1,” said Cathy McNally, director of community services.
Postponing the increase is expected to reduce municipal revenue by about $6,000.
