The PSFDH 30th anniversary of amalgamation reflects three decades of progress, innovation, and patient care.

Smiths Falls – The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital — PSFDH 30th anniversary of its amalgamation was proudly marked with a celebratory event, bringing together staff, volunteers, and special guests including local MPP John Jordan along with Paul Howard, Chair at time of amalgamation and Donna Howard, Past Hospital Board Chair, to honour three decades of unified care and service.

On March 31, 1995, the hospital corporations of the Great War Memorial Hospital of Perth District and the Smiths Falls Community Hospital officially merged to form PSFDH. This milestone created a stronger, more integrated healthcare organization, enhancing service delivery across the region. The PSFDH 30th anniversary of amalgamation is an opportunity to reflect on how the merger shaped healthcare in Lanark County.

To commemorate the occasion, staff, physicians and volunteers gathered for a lighthearted celebration sharing stories and reflections on the hospital’s journey.  MPP Jordan joined the festivities, recognizing the hospital’s legacy and continued commitment to high-quality care for over 75,000 residents in surrounding communities.

“This anniversary is a testament to the strength of collaboration and the dedication of our healthcare team,” said Michael Cohen, President & CEO. “We are proud of our history and excited for the future as we continue to grow and innovate together.”

“It is a privilege to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital’s amalgamation,” said MPP John Jordan. “This milestone is especially meaningful to me, as my father, Leo Jordan, was the local MPP at the time of the amalgamation in 1995. Today, I am proud to continue that legacy and honour the incredible work of our healthcare teams who have served our communities with dedication and compassion for three decades.”
