The list of candidates for Rideau Lakes’ municipal election, Oct. 26, is beginning to take shape, with nominations now confirmed in three of the municipality’s four wards.
Former councillor Joan Delaney is the only candidate for mayor. Current Mayor Arie Hoogenboom has not stated yet stated his intentions.
Incumbent Sue Dunfield has filed for re-election in Ward 1 (Bastard and South Burgess) while incumbent Marcia Maxwell is seeking another term in Ward 2 (South Elmsley).
Current Coun. Paula Banks (Ward 1) has not filed as of yet, nor has Coun. Jeff Banks (Ward 2).
Ward 3 (South Crosby) remains without a candidate. Current councillors Linda Carr and Dustin Bulloch have not stated their intentions at this early stage.
Ward 4 (North Crosby–Newboro) has drawn the largest field to date, with Adam Ball, Clarence Donnelly, David Wickenden and John Fenik all certified as candidates for the ward’s two council seats.
Nomination papers may be filed until 2 p.m. Aug. 21. Election day is Oct. 26.

Be nice to see a completely new council for this municipality, as the present council is clearly dysfunctional and can not get along .
