A community-led fundraising campaign has been launched to install a second veterans’ memorial crosswalk in Perth, this one at the Perth Great War Memorial Hospital.
The campaign aims to raise $5,000 to create a safe, highly visible crossing connecting the hospital’s main entrance to the Garden of Hope, a space for healing and reflection.
Dedicated to veterans past and present, the crosswalk would provide a safe and respectful route for visiting veterans, patients and health-care workers travelling between the hospital and the garden.
“This crosswalk is more than just a safety feature. It is a literal connection to a space of peace and healing for our veterans and all who wish to sit in a tranquil setting,” said Don Rideout, who is leading the campaign.
Installation is targeted for mid- to late September, with a formal dedication ceremony to be held at a later date.
The initiative follows the June 7 dedication of the veterans’ memorial crosswalk on Basin Lane in downtown Perth.

As this is a grassroots initiative, official tax receipts cannot be issued. Unofficial receipts for personal or business records are available upon request.
