Community grant funding will support accessibility, recreation, heritage and infrastructure projects across Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston
Seven non-profit organizations and municipalities in Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston will receive a combined $658,500 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream to support community infrastructure projects.
John Jordan, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, announced the grants July 15.
The funding recipients are:
- The Town of Carleton Place will receive $200,000 over 12 months to replace an elevator, ensuring safe, reliable access to arena spaces and improving inclusion for people with disabilities, families and community users.
- The North Lanark Agricultural Society will receive $87,400 over 12 months to install an Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act-compliant ramp, automatic door, lighting and pathway to provide equitable main-entrance access while eliminating barriers.
- The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 395 in Lanark will receive $106,500 over 12 months to modernize its kitchen, restore meal programs and improve safety for veterans, seniors and the community.
- BGC South East will receive $50,900 over six months to replace aging hot water heaters to ensure reliable operations and support year-round recreation, youth and community programs.
- Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust will receive $88,500 over 12 months to improve access and reopen approximately 1.5 kilometres of trails at Byrne Big Creek Nature Preserve.
- The Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario will receive $86,300 over 12 months to replace its roof.
- The Town of Perth will receive $38,900 over six months to replace two aging boilers to support and sustain operations at the Perth & District Indoor Pool.
“This grant is truly transformative for the Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario,” executive director Becky Allen said. “Replacing the roof will help protect this remarkable heritage building for generations to come, allowing us to continue sharing our community’s railway story while creating new experiences for visitors. We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for investing in the preservation of this important piece of our history.”
Carleton Place Mayor Toby Randell said the elevator replacement will improve accessibility at the arena.
“The Carleton Place Arena is a vital community space where residents and visitors connect, celebrate and build lifelong memories,” Randell said. “By modernizing this facility with enhanced accessibility, we are removing physical barriers and ensuring that every single member of our community can fully and equally participate in our town’s civic and social life.”
The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital grant stream supports projects including purchasing equipment, building new spaces, and completing renovations, retrofits and repairs.
