SFPS investigate and charge suspects in intimate partner violence cases

Nine charges laid in IPV investigation

On January 17th 2025, the Smiths Falls Police Service commenced an investigation into multiple incidents of intimate partner violence. As a result of the investigation a warrant was requested for the involved male suspect.

On January 21st 2025, the 18 year old male suspect surrendered himself to police. Police affected the arrest without incident. The accused stands charged with assault (x1), assault cause bodily harm (x2), uttering threats (x3), mischief under $5000 (x1) and failing to comply with their undertaking (x2).

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.

Arrest made in call for active disturbance

On January 18th 2025, the Smiths Falls Police Service attended a residence for a report of a possible domestic disturbance.

Officers at the scene located a male suspect who was found in breach of their bail conditions. Those conditions were from a previous arrest for intimate partner violence. The 39 year old male was arrested and charged with failing to comply with their release order (x3).

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.
