Smiths Falls Bears extend winning streak with home victory

SMITHS FALLS — The Smiths Falls Bears welcomed their fans back to the Den Tuesday night and rang in the new year with another win against the Brockville Braves, continuing their winning streak. Just before the holiday break, the team also successfully tackled the Navan Grads and Hawkesbury Hawks during the CCHL Showcase at the Rockland Arena in late December.

Tuesday’s game started with Brockville’s Kimani Eccleston opening the scoring at 8:19, the only goal of the first period.

Taking advantage of a power-play opportunity, Tyson Parker levelled the scoreboard at 12:05 of the second period, assisted by Carter Beauchesne and Marc-Antoine Riopel.

Another power play late in the third period was put to good use by Carter Beauchesne, who scored the game-winning goal at the 16:59 mark, assisted by Parker, giving the Bears a 2–1 win over the Braves.

Smiths Falls outshot Brockville 41–23.

Tyson Parker earned first star for one goal and one assist, Carter Beauchesne took second star with the same totals, and Braves goaltender Nate Galbraith went home with third star.

The Bears remain in second spot in the Robinson Division with 43 points and sit third overall in the league standings, one point behind Kemptville and one point ahead of Ottawa.
