A driver who crashed into infrastructure in Smiths Falls late last month experienced a medical episode before the collision, according to the Smiths Falls Police Service.
Police said officers responded alongside Lanark County Paramedic Services and Smiths Falls Fire after receiving multiple 911 calls at approximately 9:26 p.m. on May 30 reporting a motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle.
The crash damaged a nearby electrical transformer and a traffic light. Utility crews and Public Works staff attended the scene to address the damage and ensure public safety.
The driver was assessed and treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Police said their investigation has since concluded and confirmed that the driver suffered a medical episode prior to the collision. No charges were laid.
