Smiths Falls Police investigate IPV calls and carry out cross-jurisdiction warrant arrest

IPV arrest made after 9-1-1 call

On December 31st, 2025 Smiths Falls Police received multiple 9-1-1 calls in relation to an intimate partner violence dispute in progress. Members attended the scene immediately to begin the investigation. One person was taken into custody at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, a 20 year old female from Smiths Falls stands charged with assault (x1) and assault with a weapon (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.

Charges laid in IPV investigation

On January 1st, 2026 Smiths Falls Police Service received a 9-1-1 call in relation to an intimate partner violence occurrence. Members of Smiths Falls Police responded to the scene to commence the investigation. The suspect was located and arrested by officers shortly after.

As a result of the investigation, a 20 year old male from Smiths Falls stands charged with assault (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.

Mischief charge laid after IPV dispute

On January 2nd, 2026 Smiths Falls Police received a 9-1-1 call informing of an intimate partner violence dispute in progress. Members of the Smiths Falls Police responded to the residence to commence the investigation. One suspect was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 35 year old male from Smiths Falls stands charged with mischief under $5000 (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.

Hawkesbury OPP assist Smiths Falls Police Service on 2023 warrant

On January 3rd, 2026 Smiths Falls Police Service were informed by Hawkesbury OPP that they successfully located and arrested an outstanding suspect from a December 2023 arrest warrant. The suspect was wanted on an arrest warrant after fleeing from police during a traffic stop investigation. SFPS attended Hawkesbury OPP and took over custody of the accused.

As result of the arrest, 27 year old Jean DUPUIS of Hawkesbury stands charged with obstruct peace officer (x1), possession break in instruments (x1), possessing automobile master key (x1), possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x1), possession of schedule I substance (x1) and conspiracy to commit indictable offence (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.

IPV investigation leads to arrest

On January 4th, 2026 Smith Falls Police received a 9-1-1 call informing of an intimate partner violence dispute in progress. Members of the Smiths Falls Police responded to the residence to commence the investigation. A suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, a 45 year old male from Smiths Falls stands charged with assault (x1) and mischief under $5000 (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.

Wanted suspect arrested after disturbance

On January 4th, 2026 Smiths Falls Police received a 9-1-1 call informing of a disturbance inside a residence. Members of Smiths Falls Police responded to the scene to commence the investigation. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

On January 5th, 2026 Smiths Falls Police obtained a warrant for the suspect. The warrant was executed at the suspects residence where they were taken into custody without further incident.

As a result of the investigation, 36 year old Benjamin DUHAMEL of Smiths Falls stands charged with mischief under $5000 (x1), theft under $5000 (x1), possession property obtained by crime under $5000 (x1) and failing to comply with their probation order (x2). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.
