Smiths Falls Police crack down on crime with multiple arrests for assault, theft and warrants

Arrest Made After Intimate Partner Violence Investigation

On March 17th, 2025, the Smiths Falls Police Communications Centre received a 9-1-1 call regarding an assault that had just occurred inside a residence. Members of the Smiths Falls Police responded to the location to begin the assault investigation.

On March 24th, 2025, the suspect involved in the incident surrendered themselves to police. A 36-year-old male from Smiths Falls has been charged with assault (x1). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.

Unwanted Person Charged

On March 25th, 2025, the Smiths Falls Police received multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding an unwanted male causing problems in an apartment complex. The Smiths Falls Police responded to the scene and located the suspect, who was previously trespassed from the location.

As a result of the investigation, 47-year-old Bryan MORDY of Smiths Falls has been charged with unlawfully in dwelling (x1). The accused was later released from custody with conditions and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.

Wanted Female Arrested

On March 26th, 2025, the Smiths Falls Police Service, with the assistance of the Ottawa Police Service, located and arrested a wanted female subject on a court-issued bench warrant.

30-year-old Katelin BECKSTEAD of Ottawa failed to appear in court after being charged with public mischief (x1), fraud under $5,000 (x1), and obtaining by false pretence (x1). The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

One Arrested for Breach of Conditions

On March 27th, 2025, the Smiths Falls Police Service received information about a possible breach of court-ordered conditions. Members of the Smiths Falls Police began the investigation and successfully located the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, 18-year-old Kayden BURNIE of Arnprior was arrested without incident. The accused has been charged with failing to comply with their probation order (x1) and possession of a Schedule I substance (x1). The accused was later released with conditions and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.

Wanted Shoplifter Located and Arrested

On March 27th, 2025, a member of the Smiths Falls Police was on general patrol when they observed a wanted male walking on Abbott Street North. Officers were able to arrest the subject without incident.

35-year-old Justin LLOYD of Smiths Falls was charged with failing to comply with their probation order (x1) and theft under $5,000 (x1). Charges originated from a March 18th shoplifting investigation. A bench warrant was also executed as the accused failed to appear in court on charges for failing to comply with probation (x2) and theft under $5,000 (x1). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.

Arrest Made During Traffic Stop

On March 28th, 2025, a member of the Smiths Falls Police Service was investigating an active traffic stop when a female subject arrived at the location to provide documents to the driver. The subject is known to police and was on conditions not to communicate with the involved driver.

As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old Billie CARPENTER of Carleton Place was arrested and charged with failing to comply with their undertaking. The accused was later released with conditions and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.

The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
