Police seize firearms, lay stunt driving and assault charges in Smiths Falls

Smiths Falls police arrest two, seize firearms in threats investigation

April 28, 2026, Smiths Falls police received information about online threats that raised public safety concerns.

Police began an investigation and arrested a suspect at their residence without incident. Firearms were also found in the residence and seized.

Peter Harris-McGregor, 31, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with one count each of uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of careless storage of a firearm or ammunition. He was held in custody pending a bail court appearance.

Further investigation identified the owner of the firearms, who later attended the police station and turned himself in. Joey Harris, 38, of Carleton Place, has been charged with one count of breach of firearms regulations. He was later released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Man facing robbery, assault charges after dispute over milk prices

April 27, Smiths Falls police received a report of an assault at a local convenience store.

Police said an irate customer, upset over the price of chocolate milk, began throwing items inside the store. The person left but later returned, throwing containers of chocolate milk and deliberately damaging the store.

Investigators identified the suspect through surveillance footage. April 30, the person surrendered to police without incident.

Alexander Evans, 67, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with one count each of robbery with intent, assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000. He was later released from custody on conditions and with a scheduled court date.

Commercial truck driver charged with stunt driving

May 1, a Smiths Falls police officer conducting traffic enforcement saw a 7.5-tonne commercial truck travelling at a high rate of speed.

Using LIDAR technology, the officer recorded the vehicle travelling 93 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. A traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was arrested and charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was impounded and the driver received an immediate 30-day licence suspension. The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Residential dispute leads to charge

May 1, Smiths Falls police received a report of a family dispute at a residence.

Officers attended and determined one person had sustained minor injuries. Police identified a suspect, who later agreed to surrender to officers without incident.

A 52-year-old Smiths Falls resident has been charged with assault. The accused was later released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Arrest made in intimate partner violence investigation involving tattoo machine

May 2, Smiths Falls police received a 911 call reporting an active intimate partner violence incident.

Officers attended a residence and determined one person had sustained minor injuries after being struck and marked with a tattoo machine. A suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

A 35-year-old Smiths Falls woman has been charged with assault with a weapon. The accused was held in custody for a bail court appearance.

Driver arrested after fleeing police

May 9, Smiths Falls police received a traffic complaint about a potentially impaired motorcycle driver.

An officer located the motorcycle in the downtown core shortly afterward and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and fled from police. No pursuit was initiated in the interest of public safety.

Through further investigation, officers identified the driver. May 14, the person surrendered to police without incident.

Justin Donovan-Bioscope, 34, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with flight from a police officer and failing to comply with a probation order. Additional provincial charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act. He was later released from custody on conditions and with a scheduled court date.

Intimate partner violence investigation leads to charge

May 14, Smiths Falls police received a report of an intimate partner violence incident in progress.

Officers attended a residence and took one person into custody at the scene without incident.

A 33-year-old Smiths Falls resident has been charged with assault. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two facing assault charges after disturbance

May 12, Smiths Falls police received information about a physical disturbance that had occurred inside a Smiths Falls residence on May 9.

Both people involved were arrested without incident.

Maria Campbell, 25, and Tiffany Wynn, 39, both of Montague Township, have each been charged with assault causing bodily harm. They were later released from custody on conditions and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
