Music will once again fill the banks of the Tay River this weekend as the Stewart Park Festival returns to downtown Perth, bringing three days of acclaimed Canadian performers, artisan vendors, food, family activities and community spirit.
The free, by-donation festival runs Friday through Sunday in Stewart Park and has become one of Eastern Ontario’s premier summer events, attracting thousands of visitors each year.Friday night’s opening concert features legendary alternative country and folk-rock band Cowboy Junkies, while Ron Sexsmith, one of Canada’s most celebrated singer-songwriters, headlines Saturday evening. Sunday afternoon wraps up with Canadian folk icon Valdy, capping another impressive lineup of nationally recognized performers.
Now celebrating its 35th anniversary, the festival will also feature a special historical exhibit highlighting memorable performances, volunteers and milestones from more than three decades of music in the park.
More than 40 musical acts will perform throughout the weekend on multiple stages, showcasing a blend of folk, roots, bluegrass, Indigenous, Celtic and contemporary Canadian music. Among the performers are Amanda Rheaume, James Keelaghan with David Woodhead, Indian City, Don Ross and Julie Malía, Suzie Vinnick, Georgette Fry, Barrel Boys, Meteor Heist, Jory Nash, Jason Fowler, Jim Bryson and Melwood Cutlery.
Beyond the music, visitors can browse an artisan market featuring local makers, enjoy a variety of food vendors, relax in the licensed Crystal Palace patio, attend late-night after-hours performances and take in activities designed especially for children.
One of the festival’s biggest attractions is its setting. Situated along the Tay River in the heart of historic Perth, Stewart Park allows visitors to spend the day enjoying live entertainment before exploring the town’s restaurants, cafés, boutiques and heritage downtown.
Admission is free, with donations helping keep the volunteer-run festival operating year after year.
Festival organizers remind visitors that dogs are not permitted in Stewart Park during the festival. Shuttle service, designated parking areas and water refill stations will also be available throughout the weekend.
