Tay Valley Township will have a new reeve following the Oct. 26 municipal election, with incumbent Reeve Rob Rainer not among the candidates seeking the position.
RoxAnne Darling and current Bathurst Ward Coun. Marilyn Thomas are running for reeve.
Three candidates are seeking the deputy reeve’s position: current South Sherbrooke Ward Coun. Wayne Baker, current Burgess Ward Coun. Greg Hallam and Frank Johnson.
Current Deputy Reeve Fred Dobbie is running for one of the two Bathurst Ward council seats. He faces incumbent Coun. Korrine Jordan and Chad Kelford. Thomas currently holds the ward’s other council seat but is running for reeve.
Three candidates are running for the two Burgess Ward seats. They are incumbent Coun. Angela Pierman, current South Sherbrooke Ward Coun. Keith Kerr and Giovanni Perna. Hallam, who currently represents Burgess Ward, is running for deputy reeve.
Mike Champagne and Martin Whan are the only candidates for the two South Sherbrooke Ward seats. If both nominations are certified, they will be acclaimed. Current South Sherbrooke councillors Baker and Kerr are seeking other positions.
The candidate list remains unofficial. Municipal clerks are expected to certify nominations Monday, Aug. 24.
