Several races are already taking shape ahead of the Tay Valley Township municipal election on Oct. 26, according to the township’s unofficial list of candidates.
Two candidates have filed nomination papers for reeve: RoxAnne Darling and incumbent Bathurst Ward Coun. Marilyn Thomas.
Three candidates are seeking the deputy reeve position: Wayne Baker, incumbent Burgess Ward Coun. Greg Hallam and Frank Johnson.
In the ward races, incumbent Bathurst Ward Coun. Korrine Jordan has filed for re-election, while incumbent Burgess Ward Coun. Angela Pierman is seeking another term. Mike Champagne and Martin Whan have filed for the two council seats representing South Sherbrooke Ward.
Incumbent Reeve Rob Rainer, incumbent Deputy Reeve Fred Dobbie and South Sherbrooke Ward Coun. Keith Kerr have not filed nomination papers, according to the township’s unofficial list of candidates.
Nomination papers may be filed until 2 p.m. Aug. 21. Election day is Oct. 26.
