The Perth town council received a delegation from Perth Children’s House Elementary School regarding train whistles. Remy and Jonathan, two young students from the school, brought a short video to council about the value of train whistles blowing in town. In a letter to council, the students of Perth Children’s House requested that train whistles be permitted to blow at crossings in Perth, as the whistles are a safety measure that keep students and citizens safe. They added simply, “Our school is near the tracks. We enjoy the whistle.” The council offered a round of applause to this special delegation. “It is so nice to see the youth participating in local government,” beamed Councillor Cameron. The Council voted unanimously to continue to allow train horns to sound as they move through the area.
